‘Government to delay slow student fine’

The government is to delay bringing in a €3,000 fine for slow students by one year, sources in The Hague have told RTL news.

The fundamentalist SGP had suggested the delay in order to give students a year to catch up. The government will need the SGP’s support to get the measure through the upper house of parliament.
The government had been planning to fine slow students €3,000 from the next academic year, taking their annual college fees to nearly €5,000.
