The Dutch will remain part of the UN peace-keeping mission in Sudan until October 2011, a parliamentary majority decided on Wednesday. Only the anti-Islam PVV, which forms an alliance with the two governing parties, voted against.

The Dutch have been in Sudan since March 2006 and have around 30 military and police staff in the country.
The UN peace-keeping mission began in 2005 in an effort to end the conflict between government troops and rebels. In a recent referendum, the south voted overwhelmingly to secede from the north.
