No jail for man who filmed girls using his rest room

Thursday 20 January 2011

The public prosecution department in Alkmaar has called for a six month suspended jail term and 180 hours of community service for a man who systematically filmed girls using the toilet at his home, the Volkskrant reports.

The man made recordings of seven girls between 2001 and 2009. The girls were part of a group of teenagers who often hung out at the man's house in the Noord-Holland village of Schermerhorn.

The prosecution department said it had not asked for a jail term because the case had taken two years to come to court and the man had partly confessed.

again, sadly not shocking or surprising considering the current state of things here at the moment....maybe things will improve soon. hoping, praying, hoping for positive responsible social change soon.

Now, had this guy cheated the tax authorities, he'd be sentenced to years in prison. But film girls in the loo? No problem! Dutch "justice"!

Ok so its ok ??? meaning this guy gets a tickle on the wrist , and he can keep on doing it,this does not really surprise me much the Dutch justice system is a JOKE !!

Here in America, we like to complain about digital body scans at the airport, whereas in the Netherlands, you can videotape people naked and it's not even a crime!!

Wow, the intellectually disabled get strapped to walls and girls are allowed to be filmed by perverts. What sort of a country have we come to?

Sad and ridiculous, but all too typical. The 'justice' system in this country really needs to be overhauled.

If he had internet, and the knowledge of that of an average 12 year old, he would not have needed to do this. Let the punishment fit the crime, 180 hours of community service is just a tad too light.

Although I believe the proposed sentence possibly lenient, just because one does not agree with the sentence does not make this person's actions 'not a crime'. Then again, in America mentally ill people are executed for crimes. Is that not perhaps the other extreme?

Prison should only be used where strictly necessary, as it doesn't actually work or do anything apart from make bored posters on Internet message boards feel better about themselves.

Yes, what he did was lecherous, but assuming he didn't go and put it on the 'net, then four and a half weeks full time-equivalent compulsory unpaid labour should give him lots of time to think about what he did (and the six months automatic sentence if he does it again).
