Starting this year’s Tour de France cycle race in Rotterdam generated €33m for the port city, in line with city council estimates, officials said on Thursday.

Of that, €18m was spent by visitors and the rest came from the tour organisation, teams and journalists. The council now plans to try to attract more international sporting events.
