Dutch were happiest after World Cup semi finalFriday 31 December 2010 The Dutch were the happiest last year after the national football team beat Uruguay to qualify for the World Cup final, according to Erasmus University’s happiness index. LOL, what a load of old cods! A sample of 10,000 people out of how many? >1M I would say this is a tiny sample that it has no representation at all. I would suggest that the Dutch were the most pissed off after getting so close then losing! Spin Spin Spin.....
By Andy | 31 December 2010 11:29 AMAll through the year we have had to read about how happy the Dutch people are...but where are these happy Dutch people and why is it so important to constantly index their happiness? Would anything happen if it fell below a positive reading??
By AW | 31 December 2010 1:54 PMI was in Limburg during the last 3 rounds and indeed everyone was excited but I recall everyone having distress with the extreme heat.

Indeed, they had to be, after all "God" and the referees were with them. For FIFA, it was important to have a final between an African and an European team. Money, money, money....
By Gus | 31 December 2010 11:57 PMTo be fair, a sample of 10000 people is quite large in comparison to surveys in other EU countires. They count on people 'not' doing the maths - because that way, it sounds impressive. Those with the IQ to compare are not the target audience of these comapanies.
By osita | 1 January 2011 1:05 AMLets do a survey on how happy immigrants and ex pats are.Only then we will know how happy the country is.Or as second class citizens don't it matter?
By Jason Buttle | 1 January 2011 10:17 AMI love these polls and it does give a good impression of the general feeling in Holland and the Dutch people. Naturally we were and still are proud and even better very happy too also thanks to the Dutch team....I think almost 90 Percent of the people were following THE games on TV and it was bindng....
