The foreign affairs ministry is advising all Dutch nationals living in Ivory Coast to leave the country and has recommended against all travel to the region.

Some 32 Dutch nationals are thought to be in the country. Eighteen have already left. Dutch nationals are being advised to report to the honorary consul in the port of Abdijan.
France has already said its 15,000 nationals in Ivory Coast should leave, as a ‘precaution’, following a disputed presidential election and the threat of civil war.

Tension
The Dutch foreign ministry says the security situation in Ivory Coast is very unclear and tense. ‘Outbursts of violence are unpredictable and can happen at any moment,’ the ministry said.
There is also an increase in violent crime in both the capital and other parts of the country.
On Tuesday, the Dutch defence ministry agreed to a French government request to send the military supply ship HMS Amsterdam to Ivory Coast to help EU citizens if the situation escalates.
