California kidnap boys were in Dronten refugee centre

Two brothers, wanted in connection with kidnapping their three children in the US two years ago, were arrested last week at a refugee centre in Dronten, the public prosecution department confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

The men, aged 50 and 48, took their sons, all of whom were minors, from California in July 2008, saying they were going on a cruise, the department said.
The boys, aged 11, 12 and 14, were taken into care by social services. All were living at the refugee centre under assumed identities. It is not known how long they have been in the Netherlands or if the boys are now back in the US, the Telegraaf reports.
The men appear to have been tracked down in a joint investigation involving Los Angeles police, the FBI and the Greek authorities. The men’s parents were arrested in Athens on Thursday.
The men, named as John and George Silah from Syria in the US media, were remanded in custody on Friday for 60 days awaiting deportation.
In September, a woman was arrested in Amsterdam for kidnapping her son during a custody hearing in Australia.
