Rotterdam city council to cut 1,000 civil service jobs

Rotterdam city council plans to cut its spending by a total €600m over the next four years, involving the loss of 1,000 civil service jobs, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.


Subsidies for cultural groups and sports are also to be cut but more money is to be invested in education, public safety and encouraging entrepreneurship.
On Wednesday it emerged that Amsterdam city council is to cut spending by €208m over four years.
