Health insurer drops poor hospitals

Health Insurance company CZ is to go public with the names of six hospitals that it is dropping from its list of approved breast cancer treatment centres.

CZ said it would no longer send patients to the six hospitals because they offer poor standards of care.
The national hospital association has gone to court in an effort to prevent publication. It said the list, which divides hospitals into good, average and bad, discriminates against hospitals which only carry out fewer than 70 breast cancer operations.
In addition, the publicity is upsetting to patients and staff, the association said.
