Football law widens its net
Wednesday 22 September 2010
The new football law is being used in the four main cities against troublemakers, even if the disturbance has nothing to do with football, says Trouw on Wednesday.
The Hague is using the law in its troublesome Laak neighbourhood. Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht are combing the wording of the law to see if it can also be used in their problem neighbourhoods, the paper says.
The law says troublemakers can be banned from the area around stadiums, but also in other parts of a city. Parents can be forced to keep children at home and even contact with other people can be banned.
