Eelco Sintnicolaas has become the Netherlands' first medal winner at the European athletics championship in Barcelona with a silver medal in the decathlon.
Romain Barras of France won the event with a total of 8,453 points, just 17 more than Sintnicolaas, while Belarussian Andrei Krauchanka was third.
