Whale meat ship blockade in Rotterdam

Campaigners from environmental group Greenpeace have set up a blockade around a ship in Rotterdam port which they claim is carrying whale meat.

The activists claim the ship is transporting seven containers carrying the remains of 13 finback whales from Iceland to Japan and have called on the Dutch customs authorities to seize the meat.
‘The Netherlands must make its position clear,’ said Greenpeace campaigner Pavel Klinckhamers. ‘If the Netherlands cooperates with this trade, it will be partly responsible for the loss of this threatened species.’
A police spokesman told news agency ANP the authorities are looking in to the demands.
