Longest running soap sees 4,000th episode

The 4,000th episode of the Netherlands’ longest running soap opera Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (good times, bad times) will be broadast on RTL4 on Friday night.


The double-length episode was shown at a star-studded gala in Amsterdam’s Tuschinski cinema on Thursday night.
GTST as it is known by afficionados, was first show on October 1, 1990 and is watched by around one million people. Set in the fictional village Meerdijk, it was originally sparked by Australian soap The Restless Years.
Among the names whose careers began on the show are Katja Schuurman, Reinout Oerlemans and Antonie Kamerling.
