Dutch Farc girl is alive and well: father

Monday 15 March 2010

The Dutch student who joined the Colombian guerrilla movement Farc in 2002 is alive and well, her father told De Pers newspaper on Monday.

Three months ago, Tanja Nijmeijer's parents made an appeal to the guerrillas to let them know if their daughter was still alive.

While they had not heard from their daughter directly, a 'good source' said she was okay, De Pers reported.

Tanja Nijmeijer, who graduated in Spanish from Groningen University in 2002, was last heard of in 2007 when her diaries were found after government troops attacked a rebel camp. In the diaries, she was very critical of her life with the Farc movement.

I honestly pity the hell this young woman must be going thru. I have read her journals online, and was disgusted with the fact that this movement is run by sexists, drug dealers and criminals. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." I hope this young lady returns to NL one day. I would also hope that the people of NL would have the good sense to boycott cocaine, as the proceeds more than likely benefits miss Tanja's captors. She should have been released long ago!!!!

That's what happens when you join a terrorist group...

I am sorry...doesnt the article say she JOINED Farc? by choice then? how then are they her captors? she joined a group of known assasin drug lords. i have also read articles online that she was critcal of things, including not being allowed to take part in killing a helicopter crew. poor little rich european girl gone off to the wild 3rd world to try and save it and gets caught up with criminals. she cant come home, unless she wants to face charges for being invloved in murders!

We should have as much sympathy for her as for Bernie Madoff...

When you are not allowed to leave, you are pretty much a captive. If she were to leave, she would probably be shot. And if your claims are correct, maybe she should be dealt with as a common terrorist.

And Jennifer, I would venture to say that given the ridiculous state of the justice system there, she will be as free as a Van der Sloot. Or applauded, as he once was. Any penalty she could recieve if your assessments of her acts are correct, would be laughable by american standards. Go ahead, take your cheap shots.

have at it. I despise fox news, but it is what it is. They would be the last people to advocate for a willing dutch terrorist.
