Local elections: minor parties challenge state

Local political parties are taking the state to court in a row over political funding, Nos news reports on Monday.

A group of 14 candidate local councillors and the local party association VPPG will argue that they face discrimination because national parties get state funding to help pay for their campaign but local parties have to pay all the costs themselves.
This, the VPPG says, conflicts with the constitution.
The VPPG represents some 200 local parties.
