Breast cancer check age limit is legal

Tuesday 09 February 2010

The government is within its rights to limit the national breast cancer screening programme to women below the age of 75, the Hague district court ruled on Tuesday.

The case was brought by the national breast cancer association.

In the Netherlands, all women aged 50 to 75 are offered biannual screening for breast cancer. The over 75s are not covered by the scheme because, the government says, it is not cost effective.

The court did rule that older woman must be given a check up if they demand one via their doctor, news agency ANP said. At the moment, doctors only order tests for older women if there are medical reasons to do so.

"...it is not cost effective." Elderly people over 75 are not worth the money. It doesn't matter, because they'll be dead soon anyway. That's what's being said here. The thing is though, life expectancy continues to rise. Well, except if you have breast cancer and are over 75!

Racism at its best. Smes i cannot believe how this country can be even called democratic....cost-effective for HEALTH???spending billions in wars like iraq afghanistan, and now they do not test old people and they do not have salt so that a bus with children had an accident a few day ago..UNBELIEVABLE!

And to think that the now Dutch Minister for Health studied Sociology !!!
One has to wonder exactly what he did and what he read @ Erasmus because his policies ... seem to date back about 70 years!

Maybe they plan on giving the death pill to women over 75. Think of how much money that would save! It would REALLY save money if they just gave the death pill to women who are suspected of having breast cancer. Surely a pill is more cost-effective than all those tests and treatments. In face, if you complain of ANY ailment, just take the death pill. Save all the time, trouble, and money. Then the government can raise taxes even higher to pay the health care workers who will no longer have work. I quess they could become morticians.
