The row surrounding the publication of a critical report on the Netherlands’ role in the Iraq war appears to have benefited the Labour party in an opinion poll released on Thursday night.

The Synovate poll gives Labour two extra seats, boosting its share of the vote from 19 to 21 seats. Labour opposed the 2003 invasion and was furious at the prime minister’s dismissal of the report.
The prime minister’s Christian Democratic party loses one seat but remains the biggest party with 33 out of 150.
Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam party PVV is up three at 25 and the Liberals are down two at 18.
The poll also shows still only 13% of the population are aware that there are local elections on March 13. In December, the figures was just 9%.
