Gold for Kramer at European speed skating

Speed skater Sven Kramer took his fourth consecutive European title at the European allround championships in Hamar, Norway on Sunday with a strong victory in the 10 km event.

Silver went to Italy’s Enrico Fabris and bronze to Russia’s Ivan Skobrev.
Kramer is the first person to take four consecutive European titles and the first to win seven international titles in a row.
‘Four in a row. It is absolutely fantastic that I am able to do this,’ Kramer said after his victory.
All eyes are now on the Winter Olympics. Four years ago, Kramer had to settle for silver and bronze behind Fabris, who took two golds.
Silver for Wüst
In the women’s event Ireen Wüst took silver behind Czech skater Martina Sablikova. Sablikova is also world champion allround.
Wüst held the world title in 2007 and was European champion in 2008.
The men’s competition involves races of 500m, 1,500m, 5km and 10km, the women’s 500m, 1,500m, 3km and 5km.
