The Netherlands’ embassy in Yemen will stay open for the time being but officials are keeping a close watch on developments, foreign affairs minister Maxime Verhagen said on Sunday evening.

Verhagen was responding to the decision of the British and US authorities to shut down their embassies because of the risk of a terrorist attack.
‘At the moment there are no real reasons to close the embassy but we are monitoring the situation closely,’ Verhagen was quoted as saying by news agency ANP. The Netherlands has had a negative travel recommendation for Yemen for some time, ANP said.
