Blizzards in northern provinces
The KNMI weather bureau said blizzards had hit the northern provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and Noord Holland on Saturday night, and drifting snow was causing problems on many roads.
The snow is expected to continue into Sunday.
For the rest of the country, the extreme weather warning issued on Friday evening remains in force, the KNMI said.
