In total €3bn has been repaid to customers under the country’s bank guarantee scheme.
Around 100,000 customers have not yet submitted a claim but have until March 22 to do so, the central bank said on its website, although it says it does not expect that savers who had small amounts on their accounts to take the trouble to apply for a rebate.
The independent DSB Bank was declared bankrupt last year.
According to the Financieele Dagblad on Friday, the bankruptcy will cost the Netherlands’ other banks a combined €600m. They are responsible for paying clients who have lost their money under the bank guarantee scheme – up to a maximum €100,000.
Rabobank, which has 40% of the savings market, will have to pay €200m, ING €165m and ABN Amro €75m, the paper says.
