PC Hooft prize goes to Charlotte Mutsaers

The 2010 prestigious P V Hooft prize for literature has been won by writer and visual artistsCharlotte Mutsaers.


The jury praised Mutsaers (1942) for being a dual talent. ‘It is no wonder her texts are so visual,’ the jury said in a statement. Mutsaers is known for her novels and essay collections and has won a string of other literary awards.
The award, established in 1947 and worth €60,000, is named after the Golden Age poet Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft who died in 1647.
