'Aimco wants to work with TNT'
Wednesday 09 December 2009
Aimco wants to work together with Dutch postal firm TNT on consolidation in the European courier market, the Canadian asset manager said on Wednesday.
'The current European couriers market is very fragmented. We hope to work with TNT to consolidate the market and help the organisation to grow,' chairman Leo de Bever says on the Financieele Dagblad's website.
The Aimco team is known for its willingness to work with management to solve growth-related problems, he said.
TNT's chairman Peter Bakker told the FD on Wednesday he had no idea what Aimco and hedge fund Jana wanted. The two companies hold over 5% of TNT's shares. The stake has been built up since last Thursday, when TNT announced a strategy rethink to focus on express delivery services, the FD said.
The paper claims Jana wants to separate TNT's post and express divisions and prepare them both for sale.

TNT are a joke ..... My 2 closest post offices have been closed in the last couple of months and now in place of these , there is an effort of a post office located in my local supermarket.Last week I brought in a package to be posted to Scotland , and was asked by the girl behind the counter if Scotland was "binneland" ?I explained where Scotland was , but , to make matters worse , she then asked me if Brittanie started with a "b" or a "p" !!!!! I ended up leaving after 15 minutes with my package unsent !! No offense to the girl , but if you are hired to stack shelves in a supermarket , you shouldn't be required to be a postmistress just because TNT are cutting costs !!!
