TNT earnings down to €99m in third quarter
Monday 02 November 2009
Post and packaging company TNT booked net profit of €99m in the third quarter of 2009, down 12.4% on a year ago.
It is the fifth quarterly earnings decline in a row for TNT, but above analysts forecasts.
Turnover was down 7.6% at €2.48bn.
'TNT is optimally positioned to take advantage of a possible economic upturn but also needs to be prepared for continued harsh economic conditions and therefore remains focused on achieving its aggressive cost and cash control targets,' CEO Pete Bakker said in a statement.

Perhaps if they didn't raise the shipping rates in extreme amounts every year, I'd spend more money with them shipping things I sell to people. Now I just have to donate it or toss it because no one wants to pay $15 shipping for a pair of used baby shoes!
How about at the bare minimum they do away with the 'fits in the mailbox' template? Americans have big BOXES, not dutch mail slots so packages going there should not have to meet that criteria!
