Second 'royal' Iron Age burial mound in OssWednesday 04 November 2009 Archaeologists have found the Iron Age burial mound of a wealthy man in Noord Brabant, the second major find within a cluster of earthworks and other remains near the town of Oss. The first mound was identified in 1933 and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. The second is located just a few hundred meters away and is 40 meters in diameter and 1.5 meters high. Archaeologists found the ashes of the dead man in a richly-decorated pottery urn as well as fragments of bronze. 'It is not true to say this area was only populated by poor farmers,' Oss town archaeologist Richard Jansen is quoted as saying by Nos tv. The finds will go on show in the town's museum on Thursday.
