Second activist picked up over mink release

A second German animal rights activist has been arrested in connection with the release of 5,000 mink on a fur farm in Gelderland in October, the Volkskrant reports.

The 22-year-old German was picked up on Tuesday morning. A 33-year-old German woman who lives in Hilversum was caught in the act of freeing the animals.
The fur farmers association NFE is planning to sue the culprits for damages of over €100,000, the paper said.
The Netherlands is one of the biggest mink farming nations in the world, with 164 farms producing five million pelts a year.
