Former Rotterdam mayor goes to Tilburg

Former Rotterdam mayor Ivo Opstelten has been appointed acting mayor of Tilburg following the resignation of Ruud Vreeman in a row over a new theatre.

Opstelten held mayoral positions all over the country between 1972 and 2008, including 10 years in charge of the port city. He is also chairman of the Liberal party VVD.
