Support for the coalition government has slumped to just 46 seats, according to the latest TNS Nipo opinion poll for RTL news.

Hardest hit is Labour (PvdA) which would take just 15 seats if there was a general election tomorrow. The party currently has 33. Support for the Christian Democrats is down from 41 to 23. However, the minor coalition party, the orthodox Christian ChristenUnie, would win eight seats in the 150-seat parliament. It currently holds six.
Most popular party remains Geert Wilder’s anti-Islam PVV which is on 31 seats, followed by the Liberal democrats D66 on 25. D66’s leader Alexander Pechtold remains top of the list of valued MPs, with a score of 6.4 out of 10.
Pechtold, currently on a fact-finding mission in the former Dutch colony of Suriname, told reporters he would not accept the job of prime minister or deputy pm if his party is involved in forming the next government. The next general election will be held in 2011 but this could be sooner if prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende is chosen as the EU’s first president.
Pechtold said he would remain an MP to guide the large number of inexperienced D66 newcomers if the party did as well as the polls predict.
