Consumers lose their faith in banks

Just 51% of the Dutch still trust banks, while 48% say they have no faith in financial institutions, according to a poll of a 30,000-strong viewers panel for tv show EĆ©nVandaag.


A further seven out of 10 say they have no faith in the financial service sector regulators, such as the central bank and AFM. In total, 78% say the regulators failed to do their job properly with regards to DSB, the independent bank which went bankrupt last week.
Nevertheless, 83% said they had no plans to put their money somewhere else or switch banks, the poll, quoted by Nos tv, showed.
Rabobank is regarded as the most trustworthy bank, with 54% support.
