The sale of new cars plunged by 29% in August, despite the introduction of the €1000 scrap bonus for older cars.
In total, just over 28,000 new cars were bought, compared with 40,000 a year ago. New car sales are down 25% in the eight months to the end of August, the Bovag and Rai motoring organisations said.
Not necessarily stevie...old cars in principle pollute much more than new ones.SO if people keep their old car and dont buy new ones i have the impression pollution does not reduce. On the opposite.

and moreover this 1000 euro bonus is a joke..reducing BPM would be a much more efficient measure. For the same car (Kia sorento) NL price 39000euros, DE price 34000 euros, and in greece where i come from 25000 euros.
It is amazing.
So...less pollution, goody!
