Two sisters who held an opponent in a water polo game under water for a long time have been charged with attempted manslaughter, Dutch media report on Friday.

The sisters, aged 16 and 22, who have not been named, pushed their opponent under water after she had scored a goal in a game in Neede in the east of the country last October.
The accused, who were playing for their local club WS Twente of Borne, held the young woman under water for so long that her team mates had to intervene, the chairman of NZC, the Neede swimming club, was quoted as saying.
The victim is reportedly still suffering from post traumatic stress as a result of the attack and is unable to work or play water polo.
The sisters have had their membership of the water polo club withdrawn.
The court case, due to be heard this week, has been postponed until October.
