Anne Frank diary added to Unesco list

Friday 31 July 2009

Unesco has added Anne Frank’s diary to its list of documents with ‘an exceptional value’ for the world’s heritage.

The United Nation’s cultural organisation said on Thursday that 35 new items have been added to the Memory of the World Register bringing the total to 193.

The diary of Anne Frank is the personal account of a teenage Jewish girl who spends two years hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam during World War II.

Her diary is one of the top 10 most read books worldwide.

I am surprised to read this that why now? Why couldn't UNESCO add this one of the most fantastic treasure of the 20th century!
Hundreds of thousands of readers of her amazing diaries but remained away from the UNESCO.

Any way still I appreciate for this decision, at least our future generations would be able to go through this bloodiest episode of the sufferings of millions of the innocent Jews during Hitler's era.

I would even suggest to UNESCO to arrange the diaries for the schools curriculum around the globe.

It would be source of inspiration for our students!!
