Netherlands says sorry for embassy damage

The Netherlands has apologised to China for the damage caused to its embassy in the The Hague by several hundred demonstrators on Monday.

Foreign minister Maxime Verhagen said the Netherlands will pick up the bill for damage to the building, which was stoned by protestors.
In total, 142 people were arrested.
Verhagen stressed demonstrating is a basic human right but condemned the violence, Nos tv reported.
The protests follow an outbreak of violence in the western Chinese city of Urumqi. The BBC reports over 150 people have died in clashes with police and 1,400 people are said to have been arrested.
