EU elections: CDA dominates postal vote

The Christian Democrats were the big winners among postal voters in last week’s EU parliamentary elections, Hague city council said on Monday.

The city was in charge of processing the votes of 25,000 or so people who voted abroad. The big winner was Aruban CDA candidate Mito Croes who took almost 14,000 votes. This is the first time people on the Caribbean island have been eligible to vote.
GroenLinks and the VVD Liberals were second and third among postal voters with 3,311 and 2,499 votes respectively. The Liberal Democrats D66 took 2,039 and Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam PVV was fifth with 1,527.
