SP, ChristenUnie rule out Wilders’ coalition

The Socialist Party (SP) and orthodox Christian party have ruled out joining a coalition government which includes Geert Wilders’ anti-immigration PVV if the situation should arise after the next election.

ChristenUnie leader André Rouvoet said in an interview with the Financieele Dagblad that his party could never link up with the PVV.
‘The programme and profile, combined with the tone and manner of operating’ would make a tie-up ‘unimaginable’, Rouvoet told the paper.
Socialist party leader Agnes Kant said that although her party often worked with the PVV in parliament, Wilders’ anti-Islam standpoint would make a formal alliance impossible. ‘The PVV discriminates and we do not. That is an important difference,’ she said.
The minor Liberal party D66 said earlier it could not form a coalition with the PVV. ‘I could never be in a cabinet with someone who calls on the police to shoot football supporters or for books to be burned,’ party leader Alexander Pechtold told Elsevier magazine.
The Christian Democrats (CDA), Labour (PvdA) and Liberals (VVD) have refused to rule out forming a coalition with the PVV.
