Saturday 02 May 2009
Police have found the getaway car used by armed robbers who stole two top works from a modern art museum near Alkmaar on Friday.
The two works, a 1941 gouache by surrealist Salvador Dali entitled Adolescence and oil painting La Muscienne by art deco painter Tamara de Lempicka were among the top works in the collection at the Scheringa museum for magic realism.
Several masked men threatened a receptionist and guard with a gun before making off with the two paintings. Nobody was injured in the robbery. Around 20 people were in the museum at the time.
