Ghostbusters investigate Leeuwarden prison

A team of paranormal investigators have been brought in to hunt for ghosts in the former Leeuwarden city prison, a spokesman for Carex, the company in charge of looking after the building, told news agency ANP on Monday.

The building is currently used by musicians and artists but many feel it is haunted, the spokesman said. It was used as a prison between 1580 and 2007, ANP reports.
Daniel van Vliet, of the Dutch paranormal society TDPS told ANP the ghosts could be former prisoners who died brutally. ‘They are angry and that anger is noticeable in the building,’ he said.
Van Vliet told ANP his organisation would not drive out the ghosts. ‘We will document the situation, and the more we communicate with the spirits, the calmer they become. If we think they should be got rid off we will rent a specialist,’ he told ANP.
