EU election: campaigns halted after attack

All the major political parties have halted their campaigns for the European parliamentary elections on June 4 because of the attack on the royal family in Apeldoorn, Nos tv reports.

Representatives of the parties could not say when normal campaigning will be resume but party leaders will meet on Sunday to discuss their next step, Nos said.
A spokesman for the right-wing Liberal party VVD said he expected the campaign to pick up again on May 5, when a debate between party leaders is scheduled to take place in The Hague.
