Essent grid separation gets go ahead

The economic affairs ministry has approved energy firm Essent’s plan to separate its production and supply business from its grid arm.

The green light means local authority-owned Essent can now go ahead with plans to sell its production arm to Germany’s RWE for €9.2bn.
The grid side of Essent’s operations will remain in state hands.
