Police fine 150 for driving in summit lane
Wednesday 01 April 2009
Police handed out 150 fines to drivers who used a lane of the A4 motorway which had been closed to all but delegates to the UN's Afghanistan conference on Tuesday.
The conference took place in The Hague and the motorway lane from Amsterdam was reserved for guests arriving at Schiphol airport in the morning and again in the evening.
The motorway, a notorious traffic black spot in places, had jams of 12 km during morning rush hour and 14 km in the evening.
