Many support pay cut for job security

Around half of the Dutch workforce is willing to accept a pay cut in return for job security, according to a survey of 1,158 people by the Randstad staffing agency.

Three out of 10 would accept a 1% pay cut, one in five a 5% reduction in salary and 14% would agree to a 10% wage cut, Randstad said.
While last July just 3% of those polled worried they might lose their job, this has now doubled, the Telegraaf says. Young people are more concerned about job security.
Earlier this year, TNT Post and postal workers unions thrashed out a pay deal that would involve a 15% pay cut for some delivery workers in return for a three-year job guarantee. But members of two of the three unions have so far rejected the plan.
