Green energy usage grows

Green energy accounted for 3.4% of the electricity used in the Netherlands last year, compared with 2.9% in 2007, says the national statistics office CBS.

The proportion produced from biomass - the burning of organic waste and fuel - reached 2.2%. Wind turbines accounted for 1% of total energy production.
