Ex ASMI CFO goes to court to clear name
Tuesday 21 April 2009
Naud van der Ven, the departing CFO at chip machinery maker ASM International is to go to court in an effort to 'clear his name', the Financieele Dagblad reports on Tuesday.
Last week, the company said it would not be renewing Van der Ven's contract. 'The supervisory board did not agree with the conditions requested by Mr. van der Ven for his reappointment,' ASMI said in a statement.
Van der Ven now says he is going to court so the members of the supervisory board can be heard under oath. 'This court case is not a move towards a damages claim...I will be happy if it becomes clear that I have always been very loyal to the company, but I do believe that a change in leadership is necessary to improve the results,' he told the FD.
The paper says Van der Ven was referring to CEP Chuck del Prado. In January the supervisory board agreed to sack him but later did a u-turn.
