EU election turnout set to go up in Holland

Some 47% of Dutch voters are expected to turn out for this year’s European parliamentary election on June 4, according to Commission research quoted by Nos tv.

At the last election in 2004, 39% of voters cast their vote and in 1999, just 30%.
Meanwhile, Alexander Pechtold, leader of the Liberal democratic party D66, has begun a campaign to make Dutch people living abroad aware of the fact that they can vote at home. So far, just 15,000 exiled Dutch nationals have registered their intent to vote in the Netherlands, Nos says.
