Concert site Fabchannel calls it a day

Concert website Fabchannel.com is shut down on March 13, nine years after it was first launched.

Fabchannel, which won a US Webby award in 2006, said too many record labels still refused to allow it to record their artists, meaning the company could not offer enough performances to be viable. Online advertising and sponsoring is also under pressure, the company said.

Amsterdam city council and investment group Foreman Capital took a 25% stake in Fabchannel in 2007.
