‘Working from home a legal right’

The opposition left-wing green party Groenlinks is preparing draft legislation to give workers the right to work from home at least one day a week, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
Groenlinks MPs Kees Vendrik and Ineke van Gent say working from home could cut back traffic congestion by 20% but that government measures to stimulate this have been effective.

There are advantages and disadvantages for employees working at home such as:

2. It gives disabled people a more flexible way to join the society.
3. increase motivation and reduces stress and sickness levels.
4. Saves office space and reduves cost.
However, there are a number of potential drawbacks:
1. Difficult to manage and monitor performance.
2. Reduction in employees' skills and work quality.
3. Training and providing suitable equipment.
4. Difficult to maintain staff development and upgrading skills
5. Increased risk of information-security
6. Increase in telecommunications costs.
7. Hard to maintain team spirit for certain types of jobs
