Provo movement's Grootveld dies

Artist and self-declared magician Robert Jasper Grootveld, of sixties provo (‘provocation’) movement fame, has died age 76, the Volkrant reports on Thursday.

Grootveld, who spent his final years in a nursing home, organised numerous ‘happenings’ in the streets of Amsterdam.

His many inventions include the internationally famous if short-lived white bicycle plan where bicycles could be picked up and left at will.
