UN staff protest over pensions
Monday 08 December 2008
Dutch men and women working for the United Nations in The Hague are calling on the government to give them the same pension benefits and health cover as non UN staff.
Some 210 Dutch nationals work for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia but do not qualify for the Dutch state pension and their children cannot get ordinary health cover, the union says. Nor will they be entitled to unemployment benefit when their ICTY contracts end.
