Population to reach 17.5m in 30 years

The population of the Netherlands will reach 17.5 million by 2038, up one million on now, says the national statistics office CBS on Thursday.

The previous 30-year prognosis dates from 2006, when the population was estimated to reach 17 million. The higher figure is due to a rise in immigration and life expectancy.
