Feyenoord settles transfer tax dispute
Friday 05 September 2008
Rotterdam football club Feyenoord has made a deal with the tax office and agreed to pay €5m to end its long-running battle over the payment of income tax for player transfers between 1995 and 1998, reports ANP news service on Friday.
The tax office originally demanded double the sum.
Feyenoord’s management at the time said it was not liable to pay the tax and the club was cleared of fraud. But a later legal case concluded that Feyenoord should pay tax on transfers.
